Title: Backup forum?
Post by: popsofctown on September 29, 2015, 10:13:02 am
So, f.ds has been the target of malicious activity lately, and it would suck if this tournament got totally derailed if there was a longer bout of inactivity.  Would it be wise to formally designate a backup forum for communicating match times with your opponent or finding out pairing announcements?  If you don't pick one in advance, then if something bad actually happens, you can't use f.ds as a platform to tell people what the backup actually is.

reddit seems serviceable, and it's really nice that it doesn't require an email.

Even when f.ds was down, dominionstrategy.com stayed up, right? If there's extended downtime, an alternate meeting place could be communicated that way.

I assumed there wasn't any way to modify what was displayed on dominionstrategy.com whilst things were down, but it sounds like you know more than I do.

I would definitely recommend the reddit community. It's pretty good as far as reddit communities go and a lot of people from here are already on it.

Maybe you've seen it in the feedback forums, but just to spread the word: Please also note that mails from F.DS i.e. notifications from PMs and thread subscriptions are flagged as spam in your mail boxes because of this.
