However, any other text in private QTs constitutes whispering and needs to be labeled as such. Correct?

Sorry Necros for not coordinating ahead of time about what cards I would pick. If you play cards that you said that you liked in the chat then I will do my best to pick them.
Regarding the coordination during the beginning of the challenge: My intent was that you would be able to discuss things in a social way, such as saying what your favorite cards were, saying things like "I auto pick scout for everything" etc. I did not intend for there to be any form of encryption. I don't see what anyone did during the planning phase as encryption so it's OK. In the future though, I will make sure that it's more clear what you can/cannot do, or even limit things more. Please, in the future, if you want any kind of clarification don't hesitate to ask.

Each game you win is 1 point, each game you lose is 0 points, each tie is 0.5 points. The tribe with the most points at the end wins immunity. In the unlikely event that both tribes' scores are tied, the tribe with the most energy wins (Necropolis). Please save all the logs and post them here.

There are 2 things you can do with this energy: Support your own tribemates or pile it on your opponents. The energy your tribe has spent can be used to help bolster you if you don't want to spend your own energy. Doesn't have you mean you're at 0 personal energy, you just have to ask your tribe and they'll decide if they want to spend some of their stores to help you. Finally, on any given day you can spend 5 of your tribe's spent energy to put 5 more pounds on the other tribe. You can spend a max of 15 energy in this way every day.

Lots of things I wished I could do as a mod last season to speed things up. As a mod I would never be comfortable suggesting this, but as a player it's totally legit to try it if everyone agrees to it in some form.
I have a reputation in my board gaming group of taking 90 minute games and getting them done in a half hour (and making them much more fun that way, really, Ra isn't a good enough game to justify 90 minutes but is amazing at 30 :-P)
I mean, I doubt it will work out but that won't stop me from trying! ;D
I think for this to finish in any kind of timely fashion it might be necessary to have the mod make a random move for anyone who goes 24 hours without moving when it's their turn (or some other mechanic like that).
Super long challenges really kill the momentum of the game. :/ Especially for the poor sucker stuck at exile!

I trust the people I'm with, and tonight's the first time we get to really show that trust to each other. It was fun being immune all the time, and it definitely brought our group a lot closer, but this also feels due somehow. I think I'll be here tomorrow, but I wouldn't have spent energy on the challenge if I didn't prefer having immunity still.

The jury binds players together so that they act in a way that is not wholly self-interested. If you make a promise to someone, you now have a reason to keep it. That changes the way the game is played, and that's a good thing; the jury stops people from being complete jerks to each other, which in turn makes the game more fun.

Okay, my name was written down last week. It was probably just mcmc or a random vote so I'm not super worried tonight because of it. In this game one person can't do much on their own.
Tribal council starts now and lasts until Sunday night. Personal QT's are now locked.Every time you come here without immunity, your survival is depending on whether other people vote they said they would. I think we all agreed to vote out Awaclus, so tonight's kind of a break. You never know though, so I'm going to be terrified as always when you release the vote video.
In Coup, you will be dealt two face-down role cards which represent your life (you start with two life). The goal is to eliminate all of the other players by reducing their life to zero, if you do this without dying yourself, you win the game. As you lose life, your role cards are flipped face up and are publicly visible (when you go from two life to one, you get to pick which role card you flip over). Face-up role cards do not give you any special abilities, but the face-down ones do (more on that later).
On your turn, you must take an action; you have several choices for actions, let's talk about them.
The first three actions you can take are the bread 'n' butter of the game:
1. Take one dollar: you add 1 to your money. BTW you start the game with $2.
2. Take two dollars: you add 2 to your money. Why would you take one dollar when you could take two dollars instead? Well because this action can be blocked, but I'll talk about that later.
3. Coup someone: if you have 7 or more money, you can take this action; you pay $7, choose any player, and they lose a life. This action cannot be blocked or challenged or anything, it can only be whined about. If you start your turn with $10 or more, you are required to take this action.
So this is the idea of the game, you get money, then you Coup people. Good times. Let's talk about some other actions now. Your face-down role cards (which also represent your life) "allow" you to take some special actions. Of course those cards are face-down so you can bluff as much as you want (which is why I'm going to use so many quotes) but we'll address bluffing and challenging later.
Duke. Take three dollars: you add 3 to your money. Yeah this is pretty good, but it "requires" the Duke. Also, the Duke allows you to block anyone trying to take two dollars with their action so they get zero dollars instead.
Example: AdamH tries to take two dollars with his action. AHoppy says "no I am the Duke, I block you". AdamH puts the two dollars back and shoots a mean look at AHoppy because he doesn't have the balls to challenge AHoppy's Duke. AHoppy then uses his action to take three dollars. Another dirty look. etc...
Captain. Steal two dollars: Choose another player, you take two of their dollars. It's pretty good, but it "requires" having a Captain AND can also be blocked by other Captains or Ambassadors.
Example: AdamH says "I am the Captain, I steal two from AHoppy." AHoppy says "no can do, brah, I have an Ambassador." More dirty looks, AdamH does not get any dollars this turn.
I should note that only the person being stolen from can claim Captain or Ambassador to block it.
Assassin: You pay $3, point at someone and they lose a life. It's pretty good, but it "requires" the Assassin card and can also be blocked by a Contessa.
Contessa: You don't get a special action you can take for this, all the Contessa allows you to do is to block Assassinations. Once again, only the person being Assassinated can use their Contessa to block.
Ambassador. Exchange: Along with being able to block attempts to steal from you, the Ambassador allows you to take the Exchange action. You take two role cards from the deck in the middle, then look at those cards plus your face down role card(s) and the put any two of them back. So if you have two life you pick your two favorite from four cards. If you have one life, you pick your one favorite from three cards.
Now would be a good time to say this: the deck of cards we play with has 15 cards, 3 of each of the five roles. This may be useful information.
Now remember all the quotes I used, and the talk of challenges and bluffing? Let's deal with that now. Any time someone does anything that "requires" a special role card, of course they don't actually have to have it. But if you think another guy is bluffing you can challenge them.
Example: AdamH tried to take $2 for his action, AHoppy blocked him with his Duke. Tired of being stepped on, AdamH grows a pair and says "I challenge your Duke!"
There are two possibilities from here.
1. AHoppy has the Duke: AHoppy reveals his Duke card, then shuffles it into the deck and gets another face-down role card (it could be the same Duke, or it could be anything). Then as punishment for challenging and being wrong, AdamH loses a life. Holy crap.
2. AHoppy doesn't have the Duke: In this much more likely scenario, AHoppy doesn't have the goods, so AHoppy loses a life for his transgressions. Also, AdamH gets to actually take his $2 unless some other brave Duke out there wants to try and block him. Good luck with that, though.
So whenever there's a challenge, somebody is losing a life. A reminder: anyone may challenge any role claim. That's different from blocking Captains and Assassins, where you had to be the target to block it: of course I don't think anyone else is gonna step in for you if some mean old Captain or Assassin is picking on you, but they're allowed to if they want.
I should also warn you about one particular scenario that can get people pretty salty. Let's say AHoppy tries to Assassinate me and I have two life. And let's say I don't like that. If I challenge his Assassin and he has it, I lose a life from that AND I'm still getting shot at, so I could lose another life there. Same goes for if I try to block with a Contessa I don't have -- if he challenges me I'm going to lose a life for not having the Contessa, and I'm still going to lose a life because he's Assassinating me. Reckless challenges are a great way to quickly lose the game from a good position, so be careful!

I wish you had been more confident in yourself and your play to know you could have won against Hydrad. I probably would have voted for you either way (despite what I said earlier, I was just being a drama queen then.)
