Title: (Reasonably easy) way to bias the simulation?
Post by: antony on January 05, 2012, 08:40:13 am
Hi,
Today I played a (no-Colony) kingdom with no $3, where the $4 were Feast and Quarry, and the interesting $5 were afaict Tactician / Treasure / Torturer.  I guess we were both going to go for BM/Tactician, but I was lucky and got a 5/2 opening so opened Torturer to slow down my opponent.  My opponent got lucky himself a few turns later and got $10 on a Tactician turn, so got two treasuries and started a Tactician/Treasure combo.  Anyways, I ended up pulling a close win, he wasn't able to stack Treasures fast enough.
I tried to simulate this on Dominiate, and indeed stacking Treasures seems too slow (the VP graph shows that it takes the lead only around turn 25 or so), but then I thought that merely giving a list of priorities is not going to be enough, instead I should also force me to get a 5/2 opener and my opponent to get $10 before say the 4th reshuffle (otherwise it's clear that Treasure-stacking is not going to be viable).
So is there a way, either to force that, or perhaps more simply, to throw away any run that doesn't satisfy this property?  (of course I could also try to come up with a gain priority list that adapts itself, but then quite often both bots would end up playing single Tactician, watering down the difference in strengths.)

You can start from the middle in Geronimoo's simulator, which will take care of this problem.

Geronimoo's simulator can do this, but I don't know if you want to have decisions that you can't take there.

It would be quite easy to modify the (server-side) code to implement this here, but nobody has done this. But this is the second request, and as Geronimoo also did it maybe I have a look on it at the weekend...
