Title: Could we get some kind of veto mode for centralized cards?
Post by: popsofctown on May 21, 2015, 10:58:33 pm
I think a lot of times players on both side of the table don't really want a certain card to be in the game.  It'd be nice if there was a feature that let both players play the game without a card being in the game if it was unanimous.  Agreeing not to dogma the card if it comes up doesn't work that well for a few reasons.

You could make the card be the achievement, perhaps, or at least that works for Clothing, Industrialization, and Gunpowder (or X, not here to debate what the most unfun cards really are, just suggest a feature for when it's -unanimous-)

If the UI would be cluttered, you could just throw up a bunch of popular cantidates for removal.

Almanac and Measurement! . . . and those annoying level 6 cities like Dublin that you can auto-win by getting Glory, Repute, and a Flag just for melding. I effing hate those.

Well, cities is a beta, and a lot of people choose not to play more cities right now because it's not production quality.  Yet the point of it being on isotropic is to try out those things and decide if you think they're really broken and generate feedback so it's not the best place for a veto mode, it could harm testing.

But yes, Almanac and Measurement are two cards some echoes players may feel are more fun when left out.  I feel that way.

It feels like Cities has been in beta forever, but hey they made a rules change recently (don't draw more cities if you have one in hand), so it seems like its state is still bring followed.

Almanac never seems to pan out well for me, but yeah Measurement in Echoes is pretty totally ridiculous.
