Title: The big build-up
Post by: ConMan on March 19, 2015, 08:55:43 am
A challenge to gain cards in incremental costs! In the fewest turns you can manage, do the following in order:

1. Play a Workshop to gain a Feast.
2. Play a Feast, gaining a Horn of Plenty.
3. Play a Horn of Plenty in order to gain a Farmlands.
4. Buy a second Farmlands, trashing a card to get a Forge.
5. Finally, play Forge and trash sufficient cards to gain a Province.

You may buy or otherwise gain any other cards you may need (and you can specify the rest of the kingdom however you want). Also, you don't need to ensure that the card you gain in one step is the same one you use in the following step or anything.

PM me logs, I'll keep things open for a couple of weeks.

If you wanted to, you could also add to the beginning: Play a stonemason, trashing a card to gain two workshops. Of course that makes everything longer and more complicated. I like how the challenge limits a lot of what you can add to the kingdom. I think I will give it a try tonight.

Is perfect shuffle luck allowed?

It's a solo challenge, not a puzzle. You're supposed to submit a log.

You could off course make a plan that assumes perfect shuffle luck and then start over 10000000000000 times until you have it. Good luck with that :)
I submitted something that if my calculations are correct has about 8% chance of happening (assuming you get the 5/2 it needs).
That happened to be the first try I did the plan in its current form.

I don't think I'd be willing to go for something that is significantly less likely then 5%.

Yep. Actual link to a Goko/Salvager log please. I've received a couple of entries now, and I will have a shot at it myself over the weekend but it almost certainly won't be the winner.

On another note, I think there should be more $6-cost cards that could fit this pattern. Unfortunately, Farmland is the only $6-cost that can gain a $7-cost gainer. I was even tempted to switch the HoP for an Upgrade, but I kind of liked that HoP doesn't assume you have another $5-cost available.

Hey Hey , is this thing possible again now?

I thought this all died out when Isotropic *sniff* left us.

Loved making these

As far as I understood you can play solo games on goko but only in the secret chamber room

btw - I assumed passing for any multiple of two turns to get the 5/2 or 4/3 you want is still ok.

Just don't let this fool you into thinking it will work in Secret Chamber II or III.

It's about time I announced the winner of this. And now is a good time, since absolutely nothing of interest is happening in relation to Dominion this week. No, not at all.

So, our winner, in a grand total of 8 turns (assuming you ignore the turns spent trying to get the right opening), it's Stef (http://www.gokosalvager.com/static/logprettifier.html?/20150319/log.50b20dc3e4b0c9ce0cf27eb3.1426784904055.txt)!

With an honourable mention to iguanaiguana (http://www.gokosalvager.com/static/logprettifier.html?/20150320/log.54485813e4b0342f4922b1e1.1426887881573.txt), who managed it in 11 turns.
