Just wondering?
-
When you want to trash Provinces?
-
Quite definitely. Knights can struggle once the opponent has valuable cards above the 3-6 cost range. Cheap cards like pawns and hamlets can add padding to a deck and be defense against knights, as can curses and copper. Secret chambers can defend better against knights. Knights have peculiar multiplayer interactions and can often put each other into the discard pile without much harm to anyone else.

sab is a much better opening, especially when the top knight is bad.

I doubt that, but sab can definitely be better than knights. sab-KC can win a game, even if your opponent bought over 50% of all VP.

Oh right, forgot about that.

Sab (virtually) always hits. A first shuffle knight has a 11/36 chance of hitting. They most likely won't be replacing either.

yeah, the attack of saboteur is certainly better on the first play. it's just, saboteur is an incredibly weak card, and you rather have a knight in your deck. maybe if the bonus does nothing for you? but what bonus would that even be. the buys knight doesn't count, because he costs 4$.

Molly can be useless in a deck with excess actions. Josephine can be useless in a game where all the knights get trashed or two points is meaningless. Anna can be useless with chapel on the board.
-
yea, it's not impossible. But even for a first round buy, I think I'm more likely to buy a knight than a saboteur.
-
I don't think Anna is useless even with Chapel on the board. You trash faster, and then you can trash Chapel. It's bad, but I think I'd still buy it over Saboteur.
-
If your opponent is relying on KC or Banks and coppers or something, Sab can be better than Knights.
-
Another scenario would be really big slogs with lots of 0-costs. (and maybe lots of 2-costs too)

Yeah, being able to trash your trashing card is pretty huge.

That's why Bomb is such a good card!
