Title: Skipping your first turn if Goko puts the wrong person first?
Post by: ravi on March 07, 2014, 10:41:15 am
So the first player should switch A-B-B-A-A-B, but Goko doesn't let you choose who goes first.  However, if you are incorrectly set to go first can't you just skip your first turn (do nothing, buy nothing) and let the opponent go first without having to restart games annoyingly all the time?

I realize the one drawback is on a tied-score Goko may incorrectly call it a draw or a win, but if you keep track of that yourself (and play unrated games) then it shouldn't really matter right?  Would this be acceptable?  I am trying to think of a case where it would be a problem but I am not sure.  It is really annoying to keep restarting games when the wrong person starts first.

This would definitely not work. It totally screws up the deck shuffles.

No, because doing that changes how a game of Dominion works.  If you opened 5/2, for instance, you have little chance of winning if you do this.  Also, it just changes the tempo of the game in general. The only fair thing to do is restart the game.  That's why the matches are played in Unrated.
